Osiris in Hieroglyphs
Ancient Egyptian: Osiris

Osiris is the god of the afterlife [a place known as Amenti] who grants the
dead eternal life . He is the brother / husband of Isis, father to Horus and
believed to be the son of Geb and Nut.

Access to life eternal was based on a persons' moral fidelity in keeping
with the goddess Ma'at who represented truth and balance. An individual
was tried by 42 divine judges and if not found suitable was given to the
goddess Ammit 'the devourer of hearts' and denied entry.

Since the ancient Egyptians were Resurrectionists, Osiris was a key deity
which embodied all an Ancient Egyptian could hope for in life after death.

Over time Osiris was associated with certain natural cycles such as the
rising and flooding of the Nile and the sowing and reaping of crops so as
to reinforce resurrection.

Osiris was worshipped mainly at Abydos at the Temple of Seti I, but is first recorded in the 5th dynasty onwards.

He was a gentile judge and ruler of the afterlife, who controlled plants and their germination and it described as ‘The Lord Of Love’, ‘He who is permanently Benign and Youthful’. Osiris was widely worshipped until circa 395 AD when he was suppressed as a deity during the Christian era in Egypt form 41 AD onwards.
