Marhaba! Now I’m no Egyptologist, but over the many years I have been visiting this country it has turned into somewhat of a passion (ask anyone who knows me lol). In these few pages I have tried to impart my knowledge and interest in the many facets of Egyptology. I have attempted to take you on a journey from before Egypt was the land of the Pharaoh’s to today where many of the same things can be seen both in the people and the places. It’s a big task to set, but hopefully you will learn a bit about this wonderful subject and hopefully visit because it’s ok reading about it, but actually being there is a different kettle of Cobras... Since there are a lot of deities in Ancient Egypt (henceforth known as A.E.), I have tried to stick to the highlights about them. The Egyptian gods section is big, so I’ve tried to make this interesting by varying the page design and a bit more interactive with some galleries and a quick info box. Like most large topics Egyptology can get a bit dry (but necessary) I’ve tried to give a sense of who / what and where in Egypt events took place as well as a guide to modern places as I think its important to see what came before the world we see today... There is an interactive timeline section that details from 5000 BC to 649 AD that shows how Egypt became a mighty civilisation. The A.E Chronology deals with the various stages of Egyptian civilisation and the various pharaoh’s whilst being interactive and searchable, so you won’t get bored... We know what we know about Ancient Egypt from some dedicated and intelligent individuals whom have contributed their life’s work to Egypt. I have tried to do them some justice in the ‘Unravelling the Past’ section. Finally, I feel that when people talk about Ancient Egypt it somehow brings the past back alive and I hope it does for you too.
